Book. Book. Book. Book. Book My Show?

Want to see what absolute domination looks like?

This is BookMyShow’s market share by booking through their own web/app vs. everyone else:

I feel like I shouldn’t have to say anything here. Let the data speak for itself and leave it there. But as you might have noticed, I suffer from verbal diarrhea. BMS’ business may seem relatively simple but getting into a market early and staying on top of it are 2 very different things. This is a story 10 years in the making.

Despite all the noise around PayTM’s recent entry into this space; BookMyShow will be a difficult adversary to take on. They understand their users beyond cash backs and incentives that could skew the market. Of course, one could argue that so does PayTM, after all, they know how & where consumers spend their money. I personally believe that consumers tend to assign one use case for one App and the multiplicity of solutions is confusing rather than empowering.

Their Net Promoter Score is the highest. What does this mean? That their users are most likely to recommend this app to other people.

Even their founder talks sense, lots of good nuggets in this video. This rant, in particular, is pure gold.

The AOV’s in this segment are largely static as you’ll see below.

There’s a reason for this, PVR pretty much controls this market. They have a near monopoly in the multiplex segment. This also means that no matter who wins in ticketing, PVR wins for sure. Who else’s tickets are they going to sell?
